The Story
July 18, 2020
Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Peters! These two could not have been more fun to work with. Michael and Connor met in college and were friends long before they started dating. (It might be fair to say Michael hung out in the "friend zone" for a while). However, once these two were officially a couple they were a force to be reckoned with! It was so touching to hear all of their friends rave about how wonderful the two are as a pair. When they asked me to shoot their barn wedding in Fairmont, IN I was thrilled!
I first met Michael and Connor at their engagement session in the February of 2020. I will never forget their session because we were somehow blessed with sunshine in the middle of an Indiana winter! Seriously, their photos will forever be some of my favorites! Being along for their wedding journey has been an absolute pleasure. They were so much fun to work with and I could really see how much care they put into making their wedding day special and personal.
Some stand out moments had to be that they were INSISTENT on not seeing each other before the ceremony! Yet, they were getting ready in the same house! We had lots of fun sneaking them around each other to capture the sweet moments before they said " I Do." Another charming aspect of their day was their personalized vows. Their words were so heartfelt and both were very emotional as they shared. Michael was the sweetest picture of a man as he saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle. Connor's dress was AMAZING. She looked absolutely stunning as she floated down to her soon to be husband, and yes, those are feathers at the bottom of her dress!
These newlyweds were all smiles and laughs after their ceremony ended. We took some family and group photos before the reception and then feasted on some really great food! Michael has two brothers who he is very close to and chose them both to be his best-men. They delivered wonderfully heartfelt speeches. I was truly impressed by their delivery. I always love hearing the funny stories shared during toasts, and Connor's maids of honor (her sister, Molly, and friend, Taylor) did not disappoint in their speeches either! A unique moment of the evening happened during the special dances. There was the traditional bride/groom, father/bride, and mother/groom, followed by a mother and daughter dance done by Connor and her sweet mama Jennifer! It's not everyday that you see such a loving relationship between a mother and daughter, and it was certainly one of my favorite parts of the evening.
Connor and Michael had some sweet surprises for their guests including alcoholic slushies and an ice cream truck! It was a great idea and I know all of the guests loved it! The rest of the evening was spent on the dance floor. It was a very hot day but that did not stop this group! All of the bridal party and guests broke it down on the floor and had a wonderful time. We concluded my time at the wedding with a sparkler and ribbon exit! Everyone cheered as the newlywed Mr. & Mrs. Peters ran through the aisle of loved ones! It was a beautiful day and I wish every happiness to Connor & Michael. Congratulations friends!
